What To Wear To Celebrate

What To Wear To Celebrate

Saturday 10th September marks the start of the Mid-Autumn Festival. Although the true origin of Mid-Autumn Festival is not known, history shows that moon-worshipping practices began over 3,000 years ago in the Shang Dynasty (c. 1600-1046 BC). The festival then became official during the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD) when ancient emperors of China would host a feast to make offerings to deities and the moon in celebration of the year’s harvest.

Today, it’s a chance to get families and friends together to revel in festivities like feasting on mooncakes, playing with lanterns, and moon gazing. With three days to celebrate, you’re going to need some serious outfits to make every moment count. Read on as we pick our favourite festival fits!

Moon gazing is a traditional way to mark the festival and is a symbol of completeness and unity. If you’re heading to the park or an open area of land to look up to the sky and appreciate the beauty of the moon, then you’ll need an outfit that will help you shine just as bright. We’d opt for our Salvia Skirt with its flowing ruffles that move like ripples of moonlight on the water. Wear it with our Buddleja Jumper and chunky black ankle boots to keep you snuggly and warm as the night draws in.

Red symbolises luck, joy and happiness in Chinese culture. If you’re looking to help manifest some success, then injecting this vivid hue into your wardrobe is the perfect touch. We love our Jade Jumpsuit for the occasion which can be dressed up or down no matter where your weekend will take you. The fluted sleeves and cut out detail add the right dose of drama – simply dial up with your favourite jewellery to bring some serious bling.

Nothing quite beats the vibrancy and vivid nature of the Fire Dragon Dances that descend on the streets during the Mid-Autumn Festival. Complete with a banging drum beat and roaring sentiment, it’s one of the most iconic experiences to encounter and you’ll need an outfit that will let you feel the vibe and energy. We love our Delphine Shorts paired with our matching Lilac Top, finished with our Fah Fah Jacket cover up. Don your best dancing trainers and a cross-body bag and you’re ready to bring the moves to celebrate in style!

Mid-Autumn Festival is all about being together and enjoying a delicious meal side by side, giving you that time to reconnect over good food. When it comes to finding that dinner look, we think our Lora Jumpsuit has it all. The chic wide legged silhouette makes it perfect for when you want to dress up and bring some luxury to your look, whilst the relaxed fabric is soft with a subtle stretch, meaning you’ll stay comfy even if you indulge in one-to-many mooncakes. Wear with sneakers for a casual lunch or dial up the style with barely there, skyscraper stilettos if you’re opting for that fine-dining feel.

Lanterns are such a notable part of Mid-Autumn Festival. Whether you make them, carry them, hang them from trees or set them free in the sky, the beautiful colours are awe inducing. When it comes to your look, why not draw inspiration from these eye-catching pieces of design! Our Juan Romper in our stunning Alar print is the perfect pick to replicate these beautiful offerings. Wear with chunky white sneakers and get ready to light up the night.

With so many ways to celebrate, it’s time to bag your looks just in time to make every day that bit more special.
