In 2022, Her Majesty The Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee after an epic 70 years of service. Whilst the whole of Britain has been busy hanging out the bunting in preparation of a long weekend of celebrations, we know many of our Emma Wallace women around the globe will be marking the occasion in style in their own way.
With that in mind, we’re rounding up our favourite ways to celebrate the Jubilee no matter where you live. Check out our top spots and don’t forget to share how you’re ringing in the Jubilee on social tagging in @emmawallacedesigner so we can see!
Join The Crowds At The Queen’s Birthday Parade
If you’re in the UK then head to the Trooping The Colour celebrations on the 2nd June where you’ll see more than 1,400 parading soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians come together from 10am. They’ll move from Buckingham Palace, down the Mall to Horse Guard’s Parade where they’ll be joined by members of the Royal Family on horseback and in carriages. The perfect way to make you feel like you’re a part of this incredible institution – make sure you stick around for the RAF fly-past which will be watched by the Queen and Members of the Royal Family from the Buckingham Palace balcony.
What to wear? When it comes to the Jubilee – it’s all about those red, white and blue looks. We’d opt for our Lora jumpsuit in Navy Blue. Chic and comfy in equal measure, it looks perfect paired with a comfy sandal and cross body bag to allow you to move with the parade at ease.
Put A Twist On Tradition
If you’re in Hong Kong, then why not opt for a traditional past time with a twist to celebrate the monarch reign? Head to the Peninsula for their Classic Afternoon Tea. Served daily in The Lobby, which has long been recognised as one of the most elegant of Hong Kong locations, this revered tradition is accompanied by ‘The Lobby Strings’ which play live daily. The perfect sound backdrop to make you feel regal. Indulge your taste buds in sandwiches that blend east with west – like the roast beef bun with gherkin horseradish cream and spiced mustard before tempting your sweet tooth with the earl grey tea chocolate bonbon. The perfect treat to make you feel like a queen!
What to wear? A civilised affair calls for a prim and refined look. Our Ivy Dress in Navy is the perfect choice when taking tea! The peak-a-boo back adds a touch of naughtiness to dial up the fun.
Celebrate In Silence
For those living in New York, then there is one epic party being thrown that you need to be a part of - The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee: Silent Disco! Award winning musician, Mark Ronson headlines a celebration honouring Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee at The Oasis which is the city’s largest outdoor dance floor. Held in partnership with the British Consulate General in New York, the silent disco at Lincoln Center’s Summer for the City starts off with a set by leading British DJ Gemma Cairney and will end with an epic set by Mark Ronson.
What to wear? Go for white with our Kanda Jumpsuit. The asymmetric strap detail and crossover touch will showcase your cool credentials and highlight you’re a modern monarch lover! Wear with bright skyscraper platforms to bring a playful touch to your jubilant look.
Sip A Martini At Maybe Sammy in Sydney
Did you know The Queen’s favourite cocktail is a martini? If it’s good enough for the monarch, then it’s one we’d order too! If you’re in Sydney, then head to Maybe Sammy where you’ll find epic bartenders wearing double-breasted dinner jackets mixing up the finest cocktails whilst jazz hits and lounge covers play. We’d pick for a clean and classic Martini with gin to kick start the celebrations.
What to wear? Our Tien Gown in bright blue is the only dress we want to sip cocktails in. With the cut-out detail, it’s got the perfect touch of sex appeal and will ensure you shine in platinum style. Wear with skyscraper high metallic heels and a bold lip for extra drama.
Find Fish & Chips In Cape Town
If you’re in South Africa, then why not reference the great British tradition of fish and chips to celebrate the Jubilee? Cape Town takes its fish and chips very seriously – from several iconic hole-in-the-wall shops located across the Cape alongside a few fancier establishments that put their own twist on the old classic. Our favourite? It has to be Salty Sea Dog which occupies one of the best locations in Simon’s Town, overlooking the historic harbour. On a sunny day the views are unsurpassed, and they serve traditional battered hake and snoek. If the restaurant is full, get your food to-go and find a quiet spot to soak up the sunset views.
What to wear? Our Bofly dress in red would be the perfect style for strolling along the beach and enjoying a plate of fried goodness! The long sleeves will fend off any chill from the coastal breeze whilst the colour perfect marks the monarch.
Now you know where to celebrate, it’s time to find your Jubilee worthy look and get ready to feel like a Queen!
