Style That Never Sleeps

Style That Never Sleeps

This week all eyes were on the Big Apple as New York Fashion Week kicked off. With the Fall 2022 styles hitting the runways, it was evident that the loungewear looks of the pandemic had been firmly left behind as designers embraced extravagance and glamour.

From frothy evening gowns to glittering sequins, the catwalk was all about making a statement. We know the Emma Wallace Woman loves to stand out, so these ‘centre of attention’ looks definitely caught our eye.

Want to get the inside scoop on the trends to covet? Read on as we reveal the styles to steal and how you can get ahead of the game with our collection.

Whilst we may have been staying home a lot over the past 2 years, the AW runways were all about making a grand debut back into society with ball worthy princess gowns. Full-length looks with big skirts in feminine tones were everywhere from Badgley Mischka to Jason Wu. Carolina Herrera took the trend and went a touch bolder with sunset shades of purple, fuchsia and red. Want to feel like the belle of the ball? Then our Li Gown is perfect for giving you that regal feel. Go soft in white or bold in mustard. With its billowing skirt, it’s perfect for those who love a twirl on the dance floor. Slick your hair back into a low bun with a centre parting to copy the catwalk.

Dopamine dressing has been a big trend for spring and shows no sign of stopping if the AW22 shows are anything to go by. The likes of Proenza Schouler and Jason Wu showcased statement shades with models dressed head to toe in colour pop brights. Whether it was traffic light red, canary yellow or fuchsia pink, it was all about being bold. We love colour here at Emma Wallace and think that adding a sunny hue will instantly lift your mood and your look. Our Laurie Mac is perfect for those who want to get the look – even with spring showers still upon us! The striking shade is the ultimate throw over for when the weather is unpredictable and instantly makes a statement.

Make Mine Maxi

The seasonless staple no one saw coming to the catwalk? An ankle-grazing skirt! Boho versions were a hit at the SS22 shows, but this classic piece also made impact on the AW22 runways with the likes of Altuzarra, Jason Wu and Ulla Johnson showcasing their styles. From pleats and prints to pleather, there were so many options. Our Lulu Skirt is perfect for those who want to get ahead of this trend. Wear it with sneakers and a white tee for Spring then switch to leather biker boots and a cosy turtle neck knit for the winter. Versatile and perfect for every season, this is a timeless trend we can get behind!

Lexi from Euphoria made us all want to play with plaid in our wardrobes, but the shows at New York Fashion Week have only reinforced our love for this look. Carolina Herrera showcased some stunning monochromatic styles whilst COACH offered up a chic yellow dress in this fabulous fabric. Want to steal this design now? Then you can’t beat our Suji Jacket. The cropped boxy cut and frayed edge detailing makes this cover up the perfect throw over piece. Love it now and wear it forever!

Luxe was the look of the day at the likes of LaQuan Smith and Michael Kors who all opted for gorgeous gold gowns and sequins to add some shimmer to their shows. Nothing makes you feel more decadent than a dress that looks like precious metal, so whether its sequins or metallic fabrics, this is an indulgence you should invest in. If  you want to show off your golden status, then our Blare Dress with its asymmetric hem and pleated skirt is the ultimate way to make a statement. Wear your hair slicked back and add on a pair of statement hoops (we love our Astrid & Miyu Chunky Rope style) to really reflect the runway.

With so many stunning trends, we can’t wait for the season to arrive! What we love even more is that these styles actually work all year round , so why not invest in these looks now and wear for years to come?
