It’s fashion month again and this time designers are showcasing their AW20 collection. New York Fashion Week ended last week and London Fashion Week is almost over. This week on The Edit we will be covering our favourite trends from both NYFW and LFW. Read on to see what trends you should look out for this coming winter!
Va Va Volume
Volume has always been popular in formal wear and this season is no exception. With Christmas and New Year’s Eve at the end of the year, designers will for sure push formal wear and party wear so having that va-va-volume is no stranger. From more casual day dresses to sparkly layered tulle dresses, from crisp cotton asymmetry to bright layered ruffles - the choice is all yours!

Animal Attraction
Animal print is having a moment this season - with various designers dedicating their entire collection to animal print, expect to see many different types of animal print across this coming winter - from the classic leopard print to daring cow prints. If you are an animal print lover, this season is your time to shine!

The Bow
Bows are not just for gift wrapping - put them around your neck! Across London fashion week’s runways this season, many designers are featuring this soft detail in their creations - on flowy dresses, tops and even belts. Having a bow around your neck can instantly transform your outfit as it adds a subtle hint of femininity and delicacy. If you don’t want to invest in an expensive piece, try a silk scarf instead!

The Bigger The Sleeve, The Better
We are no strangers to big sleeves - we’ve seen it in the 80s, we’ve seen it in the 2000s, and we’re witnessing it in its full glory this season! Voluminous sleeves instantly make for a bold statement: there’s nothing else that exudes swagger quite like the way they do. Dare to elevate them with an exciting print? You will love what this season has in store for you.

Check Power
Classic tartan, blackwatch and prince of wales checks reimagined: we are witnessing checkered patterns breaking free of their moulds on the runways in London. Refreshing takes on traditional prints with newer, stronger silhouettes, are bringing checks to the forefront of power-dressing. A bit of paired back country elegance set off by powerful shoulders - what’s there not to love?

Caped Crusader
The cape dress is not for the faint of heart, especially when the silhouettes are so bold. This season, designers fabulously toyed with prints and materials - metallic, prints, leather and many more. A range of volumes coming in different materials make endless combinations - with such a statement piece, invest in one that is good quality because the shapes and textures really make or break the look. If you want to make an impression, try this look!
