The #ModernDayMuse – Tatjana of Fashion Artista

This week for our iconic #ModernDayMuse series we speak to Tatjana, the creative mind behind the blog, Fashion Artista. We chat to the content creator, who also happens to be an actress and entrepreneur, as she gives us an insight into her signature style, how she uses accessories to make her feel unstoppable and why Tea is her leading passion outside of fashion and lifestyle. Here’s what we discovered from our 5 minutes with…

How would you describe your signature style?

I would consider my style to be effortlessly elegant. I love to focus on simple geometric lines and good quality fabrics as those always elevate your look. I also like to play around with colours, especially when I feel like I want to stand out from the crowd.

What’s your go-to outfit or look when you want to feel unstoppable?

That really depends on the season. However, I believe that the devil lies in the detail and I definitely feel most confident when I manage to pull together an outfit with the right accessories. That could mean finding the right hat and scarf for winter and balancing them out with really cute boots. In summer I would focus on getting the right earrings, bracelets, handbags and heels. When I think that my look is well balanced, I’m unstoppable. Usually that transcends in people giving me lots of compliments on my looks which only boosts my confidence even further. It’s a wonderful feeling!

Who’s your style icon?

I really like the comfy-chic style of Jessica Alba and the pure elegance radiating from Kate Middleton. I also really love the style of this blogger: https://www.masha-sedgwick.com/

Where do you draw style inspiration from?

I love spying on other bloggers on Instagram, as well as scrolling through Pinterest. Occasionally I get inspired by people on the streets. Sometimes, I just open my wardrobe and start experimenting, like an artist who leaves different brush strokes on an empty canvas getting inspired by the process itself.

What’s your favourite thing in your wardrobe and why?

Currently, it’s my elegant and simple camel-coloured coat by Jaeger, which I usually pair with my alpaca-wool burgundy scarf. Just can’t go wrong with those two! I always feel very chic when I leave the house.

What outfit have you worn that you look back on and think, ‘wow that was the worst’?

I put together my outfits rather carefully, so I can’t even tell you which one I wouldn’t approve of in retrospect. How about I let you loose on my Instagram https://www.instagram.com/fashion_artista/and you can tell me your opinion?

If you could fly somewhere tomorrow, where would you go and why?

I’ve been dreaming of going to the Maldives for a while now. It just looks like a paradise on earth. A few friends have been there recently and I just couldn’t help but be a bit jealous of their trip and their gorgeous photos on those beautiful beaches.

Who would you take with you?

My wonderful and amazing partner Tom is definitely my number one choice. A holiday without him wouldn’t be as fun. Plus, I picture the Maldives to be the most romantic destination for couples.

What’s the one item you would take with you?

My bikini! Or maybe 2-3 bikinis? A big sun hat and several pairs of sunglasses. You probably already guessed that I’m planning to spend most of the time on the beach.

Where is your ‘happy place’?

In my heart. I know it sounds cheesy, but when I’m feeling low I usually try to go inwards and assess what it is that’s bothering me. Then I discard that thought and replace it with a happy one. I also often listen to meditations, as they can be quite powerful. When I’m at home, I usually make myself (and my partner) a cup of tea and chill on the sofa. Tea does magic for me!

What’s the motto you live your life by?

Life’s too short to be boring. I always try to get outside of my comfort zone and take on different projects. I believe that’s the only way to grow. My career choices have met a lot of resistance from my family and friends in the past, but as long as I’m happy I will just follow my gut and continue living out my creativity.

If you weren’t a fashion blogger, what would you be?

I’m also an actress (www.tatjana-anders.com) and a start-up founder. My partner and I are launching a tea discovery app in February. It’s called Teapro (teapro.co.uk) and we’ve worked really hard on it this year. It recommends new exciting teas to try, allows you to connect with other tea lovers and educates you about different aspects of tea. If you’re an aspiring tea pro, please be sure to sign up to the waiting list!

What’s your favourite book and why?

As much as I love reading fantasy and novels, I would probably give personal growth books a big flag here, because they’ve made the biggest impact on me and the way I think about the world. Those books are The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho and The Secret by Rhonda Byrne.

What’s your favourite song and why?

My favourite song is “I go to the barn because I like the lyrics” by Band of Horses, simply because my boyfriend introduced me to this song. It’s so beautiful and sweet, emphasised by the fact that he sometimes plays it on the guitar at home, which is the most romantic thing ever.

What’s your favourite restaurant in the world and why?

I absolutely love Clos Maggiore in London. We celebrated our first anniversary there and the food was as wonderful as the whole atmosphere of the restaurant. Highly recommend it! My favourite place to have tea is the Postcard Teas shop. It might be not as “Instagrammable” as some other places, but the tea you get served in there is from another world! We went to a few “tea tasting” workshops and were blown away by the richness of pure tea as well as the knowledge of the shop owners.
