With spring/summer trends starting to sneak into the stores, it won’t be long before we’ve all shed our winter wares and are ready to embrace some fresh styles.
Whilst we love to see newness coming through, here at Emma Wallace we believe in buying once and buying well – with pieces that can carry you through all the seasons. That’s why we focus on quality, craft and effortlessly versatile pieces that you can wear all year long. That said, the versatility of the collection means you can interpret those catwalk trends is unique ways without having to re-buy your wardrobe every six months!
Read on as we reveal the trends we loved from the runways and how you can nail the look, using some of our favourite pieces from our ongoing edits.
Show Off In Sheer
It was the season of see-through, as sheer and transparent looks appeared all over the Spring/Summer 2023 runways, including at Erdem, Prada & Victoria Beckham. According to TagWalk, an estimated 77% of designers included transparent looks in their collections, showcasing just how big this trend looks set to be.
For those who love peak-a-boo fashion moment, then our Madeline Top is the perfect choice. With a wide drop shoulder detail sleeve and wide pleating details, it’s flirty sheerness makes it bang on point. Be bold and wear over luxe lingerie to be the standout star of the show. If the sheer trend subsides, then this versatile top also comes with a matching vest top for a more modest affair.
Catch Everyone’s Eye In Cobalt
This punchy blue hue took centre stage during the SS23 showcases. Vibrant and impactful, it was spotted at the likes of Alexander McQueen and Richard Quinn splashed across everything from dresses to jackets, skirts and even boots. A nice shift from the neutrals that dominated the winter, this uplifting shade is here to bring a smile to your face.
We think going bold in blue never goes out of style, that’s why we’ve reimagined our best-selling Lora Jumpsuit in the same hue. Crafted in soft jersey, it’s super comfortable whilst the chic, wide legged silhouette will make sure you’re catwalk ready for any event.
Make Every Day Shine
The amount of shine on the 2023 runways (Michael Kors we’re looking at you) would make you think we are back in the Roaring '20s. Whilst sequins may make you think ‘festive’, designers made a case for "daytime shine" – wearable separates that can spice up even the most basic staples.
Our Sadie Skirt brings the bling. With tinsel like tassels to get you swinging, we’d wear it with a plain white tee and sneakers to master the casual shimmer seen on the catwalks. Invest in this statement piece and keep it for festival season, Christmas and beyond.
Matchy Matchy
There’s nothing quite like a matching print set. Not only are they super cute, but they’re also easy to wear almost anywhere. Without needing to find a complementary colour, you can rock this look effortlessly. Giambattisa Valli showed us how it’s done with polka dots, florals and graphic prints that packed a punch.
We believe a statement print never goes out of style. For the season go head to toe with our matching Kizzy Trousers and Estelle Top for a monochromatic moment that won’t quit. If trends change, you can wear both pieces independently – try the top with a pair of wide leg jeans and throw on a chunky knit and ankle boots for a daytime take on the trousers.
Keep It Colouful
Chloe and AGR showcased some vivid, multi-coloured knits for SS23. We love how versatile light knitwear can be for every season and bringing in a brighter shade means you can wear this trend all the way into summer.
Our Janet Cardi, with its bomber jacket silhouette brings together the print mash up you’d been dreaming of. Colliding colours, it’s bang on trend for spring but has the fashion cred to wear for years to come.
Now you know what trends we’d jump on AND how to master these fashion moments with pieces you’ll actually want to wear again, it’s time to spring clean your closet and get ready to embrace the season in style. Don’t forget to tag us in your looks at @emmawallacedesigner.
