Honest Conversations and Body Confidence
The Journey

Meet Steph Ng, who is dedicated to turn personal experience into powerful advocacy — one honest conversation at a time.

After navigating her own challenges with body image and mental health, Steph founded Body Banter to break the silence. What began as a personal mission has grown into a meaningful charity that equips young people with the confidence and tools to have real conversations about the topics that matter most.

Steph Ng believes that “your mess is your message.” As the Founder of Body Banter, she is creating safe spaces for young people to have open, honest conversations about body image, mental health, and self-worth. Through her charity work, workshops, and writing, she is helping the next generation feel seen, supported, and empowered in their bodies and minds.

A PhD researcher, author of Big Bites Break Boundaries, and passionate eating disorder recovery advocate, Steph transforms her own journey into a force for good.

Steph's Definition of Empowerment
Steph: My definition of empowerment is being able to care meaningfully for myself and give back to my community. This means making informed decisions about my mental and physical health, as well as pursuing what I’m passionate about while making a positive difference in the lives of those around me.

Steph's style is comfy and colourful! Her biggest priority is finding clothes that complement her body as it is (rather than trying to mould her body to fit into clothes!) and picking items in her favourite bright colours like orange, yellow, and red!

A Moment of Reflection
What is one ritual that fuels your demanding schedule?
Steph: Taking outdoor walks always grounds me! When my brain is spiralling, going outside helps me remember that the world is much bigger than what I'm currently focused on.
A Favourite Moment?
Steph: A recent favourite moment of mine was giving birth to my baby girl! It was an incredible reminder of how powerful, resilient, and generous our bodies are. I was amazed by how my body led the way during a time when things felt uncertain and scary, and how it gradually healed itself in the days and weeks after birth.
Piece of Inspiration
Steph: “Your mess is your message” is the quote that guides my life! It reminds me that things in life aren’t meant to be neat and tidy, but every experience contributes to a story that I’ll one day look back on and marvel at.
