Cultivating Confidence in a Challenging Field

From Lab Coat to Lobbyist

I spent the first decade of my career buried in data, believing that the science alone would speak for itself. But in the biomedical field, breakthroughs only matter if they can reach people—and that requires funding, policy changes, and relentless advocacy. I started my non-profit because I saw a critical gap between lab work and patient advocacy.

The science is demanding, but the true challenge is securing funding and earning trust from stakeholders who may not understand the chemistry, but who need to believe in the vision. That’s where presence comes in. You have to embody confidence and conviction, fighting uphill battles every single day while maintaining grace and credibility.
